The HESI Admission Assessment Exam
- The HESI Admission Assessment Exam was adopted by the Scholastic
Standing and Recruitment committee of the Department of Nursing
in 2006-2007 due to the high volume of qualified candidates applying
for admission to the Nursing program.
- The HESI exam evaluates readiness for success in the study of
nursing by assessing math, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar,
and critical thinking skills. Additional information on the HESI
exam is available on-line at http://evolve.elsevier.com/staticPages/i_reach.html
- Admission to the Nursing program is based on the HESI examination
score and academic achievement (i.e., grade point average). Please
note that in order to be considered for admission to the Nursing
program, the prospective student must have a minimum cumulative
grade point average of 2.5 and a minimum HESI cumulative composite
score of 75%.
- The HESI Exam must be taken by all students who wish to be considered

who have taken all of their courses at Rutgers University (any campus)
and have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better at the conclusion of
the Fall 2008 semester, without any failing grades, will be admitted
automatically to the Nursing program. These students are not required
to take the HESI exam.
