SOCIOLOGY AND THE INTERNET
Course Portal

Robert E. Wood
Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice
Spring Semester 2000

The explosive growth of the internet has provided sociologists both with new tools for carrying out sociological research and with a new subject for sociological investigation. This course is designed both to increase student skills in using the resources of the internet to do sociology and also to explore the emerging field of the sociology of cyberspace.  Exercises are designed to increase internet-related skills. This site constitutes the web portal for the course.

This course makes use of WebCT for the class bulletin board, chat room, and online forms and quizzes.  These require Netscape Communicator 4.0  or higher or Internet Explorer 4 or higher.  All students must create a username and password by going to the Rutgers WebCT site and scrolling down to Sociology and the Internet.  Click on the key to create your password and username.  Visitors may use "visitor" as both password and username and sign in directly at the class WebCT site or at the bulletin board and classroom links on the left of this screen.
